I have been a student, a food stamp worker, a teacher, and now I am a stay-at-home mom with two precious boys and one handsome husband. I enjoy walking, reading, writing, and watching TV with my husband when the boys are asleep. I love going to the playground with my boys and meeting other moms. I love Jesus and His bride, the church. I love reading, studying, and discussing Scripture, and I love figuring out how to be more like Him in the everydayness of life. He is so good to me, and He is the only one who has never let me go.
Why walk when you can fly?
Kyle Matthews first introduced me to this song (originally done by Mary Chapin Carpenter) when he came to our church and did a revival. That, however, was not my first experience with him. I was lucky enough to experience him first-hand the summer after my seventh grade year at Fort Caswell, a camp that my youth group went to every year. His music and drama were so thoughtful and poignant. They really made me think, and I have enjoyed his music ever since. When he later came to my church and sang this song, it reminded me that there is more to life than the everyday drudgery that I was bogged down in. And this little jingle has stayed in my mind ever since. God has slowly been taking me on a greater journey, alluring me down a different path, and gently reminding me that I don’t have to simply walk this road; I can fly.
Why start a blog?
I want to share my thoughts and experiences. I think I’m better at writing them than saying them in person. I like reading other people’s blogs. I love reflecting on things to try and find deeper meaning. I am shy, and it’s hard for me to speak intelligently when asked about things on the spot because I get nervous. Lastly and most importantly, I want to share how God is ever so patiently and tenderly teaching me to fly.
